G'day everyone! It hasn't been long since the last Surface beta, that's why this update is a more polishing one. Behold, Surface 1.4.0 Release! Let's move on to the changelog.

World Generation 🌍
💡Wasn't that strange that old-growth taigas hadn't had an overhaul since 1.2? Well, now they do!
» Overhauled Spruce Trees now also spawn in old-growth pine and spruce taigas.
» Sludge and Dried Sludge patches now spawn in old-growth pine and spruce taigas.
» Forest Rocks of old-growth taigas were changed to be more consistent with other rocks that Surface adds.
» Grizzly Bears now spawn in old-growth taigas.
Tweaks 🔧
» Glove of Creation now maintains its 2D texture while lying on the ground.
» Woodland Mansion "default" loot table, being a placeholder in the previous version, was completely changed to be less OP and more consistent with that of vanilla Woodland Mansion.
» Enchanter now drops a randomly, and pretty strongly, enchanted book.
💡You knew that Potions of Resistance existed in Surface since 0.1? Well, the majority of our Discord members didn't, that's why:
» Potions of Resistance, which can be brewed from snail shells, were added to the Surface tab.
Enchantments 📕
» Gardening is a new axe enchantment that can be found inside Woodland Mansions. When applied, it'll allow your axe to break leaves instantaneously. Note, that the durability of the axe will still go down.
Advancements 🏆
» Come Along with Me is a new advancement given to those, who applied the Gardening enchantment to an axe.
Bug Fixes 🐞
» Recipes are now properly given to players based on certain conditions. For example, you'll now get the recipe for the Glove of Creation once you have a golden wire in your inventory. Previously, those recipes weren't written into the recipe book.
» Dead Bushes no longer drop sticks when being broken with shears.
» Snail move animation is now properly displayed.
Commands 💻
» Protect arg now can be passed to entities. You can now protect items in the main hands of other, non-player entities by using /execute as.
Surface 1.4.1b🍄
G'day everyone! As always, I'm very excited to announce the Surface 1.4.1b. Although today's changelog may not seem that big, this update took me a decent amount of time to complete so I couldn't publish it on Thursday.

World Generation 🌍
» Woodland Mansions have undergone a MASSIVE overhaul. They are now smaller in size to fit better within dark forests, yet more common to occur there. Rooms inside mansions are randomly chosen out of 17 different rooms and randomly generated in them.
💡Woodland Mansions are the main part of the Surface 1.4.1b. Make sure to check the Gallery tab to see their images.
Entities 🐌
» Enchanter is a new Illager that spawns in large rooms inside woodland mansions. Although he doesn't do much on his own, he's an essential support for all the other Illagers. Sometimes he enchants his teammates, which increases their attack speed, attack damage, and movement speed. Besides that, it also adds a nice glint to the enchanted Illagers.
Particles 🪄
» Enchanted is a new particle that indicates enchanted Illagers. The main reason why it is there is that you can more clearly see whether an enemy is enchanted or not.
Tweaks 🔧
» Flowers (surface:flowers) is a new Item Tag, which includes all the flowers that are 1 block tall and can be found worldwide. It also happens to include all the flowers that can be found in the Woodland Mansion's Flowery rooms.
Bug Fixes 🐞
» Opened Backpacks that you hold in your main hand no longer can be moved around your inventory. This led to various dupes and item deletion bugs.
» Copper Goat Horn can now only be stacked up to 1x Item.
Texture Changes 🖌️
» Slate texture was overhauled to be more consistent with that of Deepslate.
» Limestone textures were fully redrawn to look more like a stone and better reflect its RL color.

Archeology Changes 🦴
💡This update adds some exciting archeology features to the Dark Forests. I highly recommend finding what exactly it adds by yourself because it'll be very fun - trust me! Of course, you can still see the changelog below if you don't want to do so.

World Generation 🌎
» Ancient Remnants is a new structure that generates in the dark forests. It has 3 different variants, so you can try to find each of them. Inside ancient remnants, you'll find some suspicious gravel to brush. This gravel has its own loot table, so its loot is nowhere else to meet in the game
Items ⛏️
» Golden Wire is one of the items that you can find inside the Ancient Remnants. It can only be used to craft the Glove of Creation.
» Glove of Creation is a new accessory item that if worn on the offhand, increases your reach distance, effectively being the Crab Claw from the Mob Vote 2023!
💡Note, that Glove of Creation only works on placing and breaking blocks. The reach distance you need to hit a mob isn't changed.
Advancements 🏆
» From A to B is an advancement that you get after obtaining a Glove of Creation.
World Generation 🌎
» Structured Rocks now also spawn in Dark Forests.
» Dark Forests now have more grassy landscape.
» Dark Oaks are now slightly taller, which ensures you can walk through the forest more easily.
» Mushrooms were fully overhauled, Red Mushrooms now have a unique cap to them, while both variations have a kind of branches.
Blocks 🧱
» Fungus Stem is a new block that generates instead of Mushroom Stem in the Dark Forests. It can be rotated just like logs do, as well as be obtained once broken with a silk touch tool.
Texture Changes 🖌️
» Sludge texture was fully retextured, now it looks more vanilla-like and better overall.
» Dried Sludge texture was retextured, now it isn't just the "dried" texture of the Sludge, but completely another one.
» Sludge Bricks texture was changed as well, this time only the color changed to reflect the new Dried Sludge texture.
» Firebrand texture was a bit changed, adding a kind of shadow to the bottom.
Tweaks 🔧
» Scorched Upgrade now appears in the Surface tab.
Bug Fixes 🐞
» Surface on Servers now doesn't crash the game, so you can play Surface together with your friends!
» shoudLeavesFall gamerule now works properly again in single-player worlds.
» Frostbite's description typo was fixed ("make" -> "makes").

» Sweet Berry Pie is a new item that can be crafted out of sugar, sweet berries, and an egg. It's a slightly worse version of the pumpkin pie.
» Scorched Upgrade is a new smithing template that only spawns in the Forge inside the Desert Temple. It can be used to upgrade the netherite axe.
» Firebrand is a new weapon that ignites enemies with a certain chance. It can be obtained by upgrading a netherite axe with the Scorched Upgrade.
World Generation 🌎
» Forge is a new room inside the Desert Temple's catacombs. It has its unique loot table, mainly containing iron but also some exciting rewards, such as Scorched Upgrade and two new pieces of Lore.

» Surface command was added.
» Protect is a new arg that can be used to protect the item you currently holding in your main hand, effectively applying a Snail Shell to it.

» Surface is the root advancement. It is given to every player after joining the world for the first time.
» Is it a Worm? is an advancement that requires you to crawl inside a hollowed log.
» Crack! is an advancement that you get once you kill a snail, although you shouldn't.
» La Défense is an advancement that requires you to protect your item with a snail shell.
» Where are you, Bernie? is an advancement that requires you to use a copper goat horn.
» Above Mountains is an advancement, given to those who have also used a copper goat horn, but high above in the sky.
» Portable Storage is an advancement that requires you to craft a brand new backpack, its color doesn't matter.
» EmBERRYssing Pie is an advancement that requires you to bake yourself a fresh Sweet Berry Pie.
» Let It Go is an advancement that requires you to hit a mob with a sword, that is enchanted with frostbite.
» Tomb Raiders is an advancement that you get once you have opened a treasure chest inside the Desert Temple
» Starfire is an advancement given to those who were able to find a golden scarab inside a treasury.
» Don't Get Burned! is an advancement for forging a Firebrand by following the ancient recipe.

» Large Dead Bushes now has its own loot table. You can get the item itself using shears, or sticks if you break it with any other tool.
» Hollowed Logs is a new block tag, which can be used in numerous commands.
» shouldLeavesFall gamerule now has its translation, which you can see when creating a new world.
» Desert Temple's Catacombs were lowered, which ensures that lower amount of temples will be flouded with water.
» Frostbite now has proper description for the Enchantment Descriptions mod.
Bug Fixes 🐞
» The Nether Accord, the third part of the lore in libraries inside the desert temple's catacombs now properly spawns.
» Spike Parkour, a type of room in the desert temple now properly spawns. Previously, it only spawned as the last room and always led to a dead-end.
» Backpacks can no longer be put inside other backpacks.
Surface 1.3.2b 🌵

» Limestone is a new type of stone that can be found in Deserts. It is currently only obtainable through world generation.
» Limestone Bricks are a new type of bricks that can be crafted from limestone.
💡 Both Limestone and Limestone Bricks have Stairs, Slabs, and Walls, so if you love building, those are undoubtedly must-haves.
» Cacti is a new block that can be found in deserts. You can stack up to 2 of them in one block and rotate them all around.
» Large Dead Bush is a new plant that generates randomly in the desert biomes. It can only be planted on sand and is currently unobtainable.

» Golden Scarab is a new item, added in this beta. It currently is fully unobtainable and doesn't have any purpose.
World Generation 🌎
» Desert Rocks are a new feature of the deserts. They are generated out of limestone, which makes them the only way to obtain it.
» Monster Rooms in deserts differ from those in other biomes. They are made out of different materials and contain husks instead of zombies.
Tweaks 🔧
» Slate can now be used to craft furnaces and other stone-related things.
Bug Fixes 🐞
» Sludge Bricks now come in an amount of 4, which means you now get one brick for every sludge.

Blocks 🧱
» Carved Planks are a new type of planks, they can be crafted from 2x Wooden Slabs and used only for decoration purposes. They behave just like regular planks, which means you can set 'em on fire, and so on.

» Structured Rocks now also spawn in the meadow biome.

» Mountain Cottage is a new structure that spawns in the Meadow biome. Defended by pillagers, it contains some valuable loot for your adventures.
Enchantments 📕
» Frostbite is a new enchantment, that can be only applied on swords. What it does is basically the reverse of Fire Aspect enchantment. Instead of setting mobs on fire, it freezes them, which leads to slower movement, reduced attack damage and besides that, removes fire from the target.
💡Although you can apply Frostbite using the enchanting table, it's tough work, so I'd recommend you make a little trip to the new, Mountain Cottage structure.
