In this Lighty Release:
- Rewrite Carpet Mode to work without weird block registering (agnor99)
- Adding forge support (agnor99)
- Adjusting CI/CD to work with the new setup (andi_makes)
So, I hope that the whole "publishing to modrinth" stuff works, because debugging the release pipeline will be very, very fun.
Thanks again to the awesome work of agnor99!
Note: The publishing to modrinth" stuff doesn't work, as does the GitHub releases stuff. I'll try to fix it
Note 2: I'll add the artifacts manually for now. I scanned the jars with a fractureiser scanner. - Modrinth also does their own scanning.
- No changes
The time has come, Lighty v2.0.0 for Minecraft 1.20 has been released!
In this version:
- Major internal refactoring
- Because of that, a new look for number mode
- Configurable overlay render distance (Accessible over the config menu, reachable over F7)
There are still some potential performance improvements to be made, but that will have to wait until a later release. Life's still busy, so no time estimate on when those potential performance improvements will be made.
With that said: If you find any bugs in this Lighty release, please report them by either opening an issue or by telling me on my Discord Server.
That's all for now, have fun with all the new 1.20 Minecraft features!
Hotfix for carpet-mode, this release should make carpetmode playable again (for best performance, use boring cross mode)
In this Lighty 1.20 alpha:
- Reduced default Light-Overlay-Distance to a 2 chunks radius
- Major performance improvements for small radii:
- (Hopefully) no more microstutters when crossing chunk-borders
- No longer keeping a list of all loaded chunks and their computed meshes
Lots of technical stuff, but simply put: Lighty goes wroooom now.
Brings Lighty v2.0.0-alpha.3 to the latest pre-release.
In this small Lighty release:
- Fix a bug that prevents particles from rendering if CrossMode is enabled. (#21)
That's all for now, have fun!

Just an update to the latest snapshot, no additional features or fixes, still quite busy at the moment.
Nevertheless, have fun with this new release and feel free to give feedback on GitHub Discussions or my Discord server! I would love to hear your opinion about the current state of Lighty!
Happy mining!
Life's been busy for me recently, so not much changed with this Snapshot's Lighty release.
Changes:
- Correctly remove subchunks
- Fix potential huge lagspike on overlay enable
I've also created a Discord that you can join to be up-to-date with current Lighty development and to get some exclusive sneak peaks of what I am up to. You can also leave your feedback there regarding Lighty! You may also report bugs there, but I highly encourage you to open a GitHub issue instead if you have a GitHub account.
I still hope to get a few changes done before Minecraft 1.20 releases, but at least the next two to three weeks will be very busy for me. In the worst case, I'll port Lighty 1.2.1 to 1.20 and Lighty 2.0.0 just has to wait a little bit longer.
Snapshot 23w14a requires some code changes, so I am releasing a new version of Lighty with work in progress changes.
Changes in Lighty v2.0.0-alpha.1:
- Changed mappings to Mojmap
- Render Distance Wide Overlay
- Disabled Number Mode temporarily
Those are some pretty big technical changes, so older versions of Lighty will only receive bug fixes. The new features won't be backported.
I know that this will impact performance, and in a future update I will provide a option to limit the range of the light overlay.
The goal for Minecraft 1.20 is:
- Re-Enable some kind of Number Mode
- Make light overlay render distance configurable
- Improve performance and fix bugs
Those are more or less drastic changes, so I would love to hear your opinion! Feel free to leave a comment in this GitHub Discussion.
This release brings Lighty to the 1.20 snapshots!
Also included in this release is a work in progress, rather boring mode that should feel familiar to some of you :)
Have fun with Lighty in the latest snapshot!
In time for Minecraft 1.19.4, there is a Bugfix coming to the Light-Overlay-Mod of your choice!
- Campfires now smoke correctly when in carpet mode (see #17)
