This version adds a major fix for worldgen lag
Mods:
- Tweaked Blossom Blade spawnrates
- Removed qrafty's Archeology Dig Sites, Bamboo Villages, Halloween Villages, Japanese Villages, Jungle Villages, Mangrove Villages, and Underground Villages
- Updated Mods (and pushed enhancedvisuals ahead to v1.8.13)
Known Issues:
- There's a longtime bug with horses where, when looking down at water or entities through a horse, they will be invisible. If you aren't running shaders, this can be fixed by just changing your graphics to Fabulous. With shaders, I can't get it be fixed. It's unclear if this will ever be fixed. I'll try to set out some time to talk to the dev and see if it's possible to fix at all.
- The new update to Visual Workbench is scuffed. It causes smithing tables and fletching tables generated in structures to have the crafting table UI. It's not game breaking. If you pick the block up and place it back down it's fine.
- Hammers are unaffected by the Sturdy enchantment.
- Trimmable Tools doesn't support applying More Armor Trims patterns to tools. It doesn't crash when you apply them, it just doesn't display anything. The dev is not interested in adding compatibility due to the large amount of new texturing required, so maybe something for me to do myself at some point.
- Bshrines enchantments don't have descriptions (I tried to get the descriptions set up before 3.0.0 release, but for some reason it just wouldn't work. Hoping to get it fixed within the next few updates)
- If you have recipes pinned in the crafting table, you will crash when opening a smithing table. Very odd bug, but it has been reported and should be fixed soon.
- the modpack creator is very stupid so he keeps messing stuff up (true)
Notes
bit ironic that i have to remove the Halloween Villages on Halloween due to world gen issues, but such is life. This will greatly improve world-gen speed, and fix a lot of chunk errors. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TRIM YOUR CHUNKS AS THESE MODS LEAVE BEHIND CRAP THAT MESSES WITH YOUR CHUNKS AND CAN CAUSE GAMEPLAY ISSUES EVEN AFTER BEING REMOVED

Minor updates including fixes for Horseshoes
Quick patch to the Blossom Blade datapack. Figured it was good to get it out quickly before anyone (else) got their hands on a bugged one.

- Added You've Goat to be Kidding Me (note that you cannot trim the Barbaric Helmet. I'll try to add the functionality in the future)
- Added Deeper and Darker (note that you cannot tool trim warden tools, or elytra trim the Soul Elytra. I'll try to add the functionality in the future)
- Added MidnightControls
- Added Only Excavators (Should've added this originally. It was an oversight on my part. Sorry)
- Removed Underwater Enchanting (duplicate functionality)

Notes
I planned to add RenderPearl, but it seems to be having some problems. It also isn't compatible with Distant Horizons. I'll keep an eye on it. I also wanted NoEmotecraft (emotecraft 1.21 alternative) but it completely borks shaders, so it's a no-go. I also planned on adding the Effective mod, because I saw it ported to Fabric, only to realize that it isn't on 1.21🤦♂️. It's planned, but the Veil and Lodestone mods need to update. And for Lodestone to update, it needs Porting Lib to update. Library mods on top of library mods😵💫.
I've decided that any update that adds major update/overhaul will be an x.?.? update (like 3.0.0), general mod/features will be a ?.x.? update (like 3.1.0), and bugfixes, config tweaks, and mod updates will be ?.?.x (like 3.1.1)
I think I've decided to leave Distant Horizons as a toggle-on feature only, not enabled by default. I've only now realized that it does passive LOD generation no matter what though, meaning there will always be a performace impact to having it in at all, which isn't what I wanted. If you're having performance issues, feel free to join the Discord Server and ask for help 😊
After looking into it, I should be able to upgrade the modpack to 1.21.1 next update
Also yippe this is the first update i can remember where i didnt have to have a bug patch in between feature drops
BIG 3.0.0 WITH LOTS OF YAP IN THE CHANGELOGS
Mods:
- Added Distant Horizons
- Added Idwtialimmoedm (I vaguely remember having this in the pack before, but I'm not 100% sure)
- Added Litematica (default keybind changed to L)
- Added ToolTipFix
- Added Title Fixer
- Added Sodium Shadowy Path Blocks
- Added Highlight
- Added Chunky
- Added OrthoCamera
- Added Immersive Thunder
- Added Flow
- Added Your Options Shall Be Respected (YOSBR)
- Added PVU_VR_Defaults (custom mod that customizes default settings for Vanilla Refresh datapack)
- Removed Enchantment Lore
- Removed Blur+ (functionality included in Flow)
- Updated Mods (and pushed enhancedvisuals ahead to v1.8.12 aka 1.21.1 release version)
Shaders:
- Added Miniature Shader (Note that this shader, despite being included in the DH update, does NOT support DH currently. I just thought it was a valuable addition due to the very low performance impact it has)
Configs:
Default configs are now included in a non-destructive way. Your changes will no longer be overridden on modpack update, unless I need a config tweaked for everyone. Those destructive changes will still be listed here, but passive/non-essential default changes won't be as they will not be pushed to existing installations. The exceptions to this rule are bcc.json and simple-modpack-update-checker.txt as those two configs are purely used to let you know in-game when you have an out-of-date installation, and should never be altered by the user anyway.
Known Issues:
- Distant Horizons will not work if installed on a server. Make sure you exclude it when creating a dedicated server. (I just found this out the hard way after already updating the modpack. I usually try and make the modslist able to just be dumped in a server and just work but gg)
- There's a longtime bug with horses where, when looking down at water through a horse, the water will be invisible. If you aren't running shaders, this can be fixed by just changing your graphics to fabulous. With shaders, I can't get it be fixed. It's unclear if this will ever be fixed. - Bshrines enchantments don't have descriptions (I tried to get the descriptions set up before 3.0.0 release, but for some reason it just wouldn't work. Hoping to get it fixed within the next few updates)
- Flow drags Advancement Plaques around with it. This CAN and WILL be fixed, I just need to figure out the Advancement Plaques screen class name. I tried for about 20 minutes to guess it, with no success. So I'll have to go dig around in the mod files or ask the dev.
- the modpack creator is very stupid so he keeps messing stuff up (true but this update is kinda pog)
Notes
We've got a few things today
I've done a ridiculous amount of work in the background for this update. With this update my goal was to polish up the modpack as much as possible. Fix up all the little things, yknow? And with the combined work of finding issues, fixing them, and testing the fixes to make sure they work and didn't mess anything else up, it took a large amount of time. On top of the polish, I wanted to add some more features as well. Some things that have been desperately been needed (YOSBR, PVU_VR_Defaults), stuff that is nice for me in testing (Chunky), and stuff that has been highly requested, but would have required an enormous work, or been impossible altogether to add (Distant Horizons, Litematica).
I was able to reduce download and install time slightly by compressing a few of the extra files I include in the pack. Why I didn't already have them compressed is beyond me, but they are now.
I officially increased the default allocated RAM from 2GB to 4GB (I actually accidentally did this a while back and didn't realize. But hey, now it's a feature). World generation in singleplayer can very quickly slow down with 2GB and especially now with Distant Horizons included in the modpack, an increase in RAM is due. If you only play on servers, and don't use Distant Horizons, 2GB should still work if you need it to.
Distant Horizons has been thoroughly tested and appears to be 99% compatible with the pack (As mentioned previously, Miniature shaders isn't compatible). However, it is off by default because many people who use this pack run on low-end hardware. I left the dedicated mod button in the options menu so it would be easy to enable if you did want it on. I usually remove dedicated mod buttons from the menu, but I'm going to make an exception for this one so it won't be a hassle to enable. If you DO choose to enable it, make sure you tweak the DH settings, as well as the allocated RAM in the mod launcher (probably want to increase to 6GB at least), so that you get the best performance. I do plan on doing some thorough testing of performance with different PCs and different settings so I'll be able to suggest settings based off of hardware. That will also help me decide if I want it enabled by default.
I've debated a lot with myself whether I want to get rid of Bobby or not, now that Distant Horizons is integrated. They both accomplish nearly the same thing. But honestly I couldn't decide. For now, I'm going to leave Bobby in and enabled. Many of you guys play on a server, and it allows true 1 to 1 rendering. It is also tried and true working 100% with things like shaders. I think it would be wise to give some time for DH to prove itself. In singleplayer Bobby has no effect by default anyway so, either way, it won't effect that group of players. I'll do some testing with DH when it comes to performance on low-end hardware when it comes to playing on servers. For now, it's easier for the potato pc players to just have to adjust the render distance slider for free FPS, instead of having to go into the DH menu and change quality presets, chunk render distance, CPU load, cloud rendering, etc.
YOSBR is what I'm choosing to add so that I won't override your configs every update. But it doesn't give me an option to merge an existing config file with a new one, so I still can't make config adjustments without fully getting rid of your existing one. Mods that do that just don't exist for 1.21. I'd have to make it myself, and I really really hate coding in Java. But we'll see. If the modpack gains enough traction, I'll commit to making a mod that does that. In the meantime, I'll actively be more conservative with config tweaks.
P.S. I see we hit 1000 downloads while I was in the process of making this update today so thank you all so much ❣️
Mods:
- Added Eating Animation
- Added Trimmable Tools (as a replacement for Tool Trims)
- Removed Tool Trims (I can't handle it. It's just too scuffed)
- Updated Mods (and kept enhancedvisuals on 1.8.12 version)

- Hammers are unaffected by the Sturdy and Unbreaking enchantments.
- Buttercup's Shrines enchantment Sturdy and the Unbreaking enchantment are incompatible (I looked at the datapack and I see why, so I'll probably fix this myself in a future update. The dev, buttercupirl, doesn't seem to be active anymore, and they don't have any GitHub or Discord linked anywhere to reach out)
- Trimmable Tools doesn't support applying More Armor Trims patterns to tools. It doesn't crash when you apply them, it just doesn't display anything. I opened a GitHub issue and I'll see if the dev is interested in adding compatibility
- the modpack creator is very stupid so he keeps messing stuff up (true)
Notes
In the future, I'm gonna add a resource pack override mod to auto enable some resource packs. That way, I can add the resource packs I use on my server to the modpack, and you won't have to enable them all manually. The large amount of work required to turn 10+ resource packs on in the right order is a pain.
Mods:
- Added What Are They Up To (Watut)
- Added BlazeandCave's Advancements Pack (as a forced datapack)
- Updated Mods (and kept enhancedvisuals on 1.8.12 version)

Notes
Dungeons and Taverns had a major update, causing new keys not to work in old shrine vaults. This may be a good time to clear out chunks of your world you don't live in and get new structures. I've cleared excess chunks on my server to prepare as well.

this is me adding everything from v2.7.4 in which apparently none of the mods got added. i have no idea how that happened. only the config file was shipped in that version. fixed now :)
Mods:
- Added Cake Chomps
- Added Stackable Potions
- Added Stackable Shulker Boxes (as a forced datapack)
- Added Biome Sniffer
- Added Tool Trims (by overwhelming request. its a datapack so its a bit scuffed in the menus and in the wthit overly full warning)
- Added Stoneworks
- Added Cut Through
- Removed snuffles (actually this time)
- Updated Mods (and forced enhancedvisuals ahead to 1.21.1 version which fixes it)
Configs:
- Changed elytra to 2D model as a fix for the super scuffed 3d model problems (because downgrading actually didn't fix it apparently)
- Tweaked Enhanced Block Entities settings to make things that very obviously go invisible when animating not do that. this does lower performance in extreme situations but 99% of the time its physically impossible to notice.

With shaders, I can't get it be fixed. its unclear if this will ever be fixed which is why i dont know if ive ever mentioned it. Ill try to set out some time to talk to the dev and see if its possible to fix at all.
- The new update to visual workbench is scuffed it turns smithing tables that are from worldgen to have crafting table ui. its not game breaking. if you pick it up and place it back down its fine
- the modpack creator is very stupid so he keeps messing stuff up (true)
Notes
yay most of the bugged stuff is fixed i think
Mods:
- Added CIT Resewn
- Added Better Tridents
- Removed More Babies
- Removed Snuffles (😔)
- Updated Mods (except for enhancedvisuals)
Known Issues:
- The new update to visual workbench is scuffed it turns smithing tables that are from worldgen into crafting tables. its not game breaking. if you pick it up and place it back down its fine
- resource packs using CIT Resewn will need to be updated to use the new 1.21 format to work correctly (for example xali's Enchanted Books)
- the better tridents mod is fully functional as far as i can tell except for loyalty not bringing back the item drops
- the modpack creator is very stupid so he keeps messing stuff up (true)
Notes
nothing special to put here this time around so here is a new resource pack I helped make for the netherite horse armor you can get in this modpack
Due to some problems with the new Modrinth app several folders did not get included in the last update. With this version I manually added them. The fix for that problem should be added to the modrinth app soon (hopefully)
Edit: There's a problem somewhere with the elytra rendering in in the inventory. It's fine when worn. I'll reproduce the issue sometime soon so I can figure out exactly what's causing it and send in a bug report
Mods:
- Added Xaero's Map Chest Tracker Integration
- Added Cubes Without Borders
- Readded Nyf's Spiders
- Removed ResolutionControl3
- Removed Concentration
- Updated Mods (except for enhancedvisuals which yet again is causing problems)
Configs:
- Increased Piglin Brute netherite nugget drop chance to 35%
- Increased Fallingtree chop and scan size significantly (this might be a bad idea but only one way to find out)
- Removed some unnecessary configs
Known Issues:
- the modpack creator is very stupid so he keeps messing stuff up (true)
Notes
i might stall out the vr update in favor of making a alternate version of this pack that supports Geyser aka bedrock players joining the server. Which will require me to strip out a bunch of mods. So kinda like Proxi's Vanilla Lite or Proxi's Vanilla Together or something
Mods:
- Added AdoraBuild: Structures
- Readded Visible Traders (thank you Ramixin)
- Readded EnhancedVisuals
- Removed Alternate Current
- Removed Auto Reauth
- Removed AutoRelog
- Removed Enhanced Cats
- Updated Mods
Notes:
As you can see a lot of things were removed in this update. But I'm glad to have Visible Traders back. What I really wanted to do for this update is to improve exploring and finding structures even further. But I think it has kind of hit a ceiling if I want it to stay vanilla styled. I toyed around with the When Dungeons Arise mod for like an hour before accepting that it was just too far from vanilla. Which sucks because I really wanted it. So I looked elsewhere and AdoraBuild actually looks really good. It'll do for now. I don't know much more that I can add
Mods:
- Added Capes
- Added Durability Tooltip
- Added Better F1 Reborn
- Added Dimension Viewer
- Added Axolotl Buckets
- Added Bad Horse Fix
- Added Wise Elytra
- Added Formations Nether
- Added Formations Overworld
- Added Not Enough Crashes
- Added Neurina Ticking Entity Fixer
- Added AutoRelog
- Added Auto Reauth
- Added Stylish Stiles
- Added Enchantment Lore
- Added Connected Doors
- Added Simple Modpack Update Checker
- Added Additional Structures
- Removed Double Doors
- Updated Mods
Shaders:
- Added Rethinking Voxels
Configs:
- I've had the No Chat Reports client config in the wrong place the whole time and I've only realized now so now. That's finally fixed. (it's there to disable the verified server icon because it overlaps with the BCC icon)
Known Issues:
- the modpack creator is very stupid so he keeps messing stuff up (true)
- It seems like the issue of random server lag is gone so that's good
Notes
In the future I'll include a resource pack expanding the Enchantment Lore to the modded enchant books in the modpack (Soon™)
I'm going to refrain from adding many more server mods for things like player management. I'll just add them to my server specifically. I am thinking about making a second version of this modpack that has those extras designed just for servers where you want to have extra features for a lot of players. We'll see
I know my strategy of including config files is terrible for people who like changing the values in the files I include. It gets overwritten every modpack update. I'll fix it sometime in the future. (Another Soon™)
