Installation
Third-party launchers such as Modrinth App and Prism Launcher can easily play and update CoreCraft. Check Modrinth's documentation for more information. This is the recommended way to play CoreCraft because it is less prone to user error when updating or configuring the modpack. Also, you can easily grant microphone permissions to the third party launchers for Simple Voice Chat mod instead of running a script for microphone access for the official Minecraft Launcher on MacOS. However, you can easily install the CoreCraft modpack for the Official Minecraft Launcher.
If you are playing single-player, we recommend allocating at least 3 GB. If you are playing with more players, the host/server should allocate more RAM. Click here for more information about server requirements, keep in mind that this is modded Minecraft, so the requirements may be slightly higher: https://minecraft.wiki/w/Server/Requirements
We also recommend disabling v-sync and capping your framerate (FPS) at your refresh rate.
Pre-generate chunks using Chunky. Most servers pre-generate to avoid unnecessary lag loading chunks and for creating clean looking map renders of their world.
Minecraft Launcher Installation
To obtain the mods folder directly, download the latest modpack then use mrpack to zip. Once downloaded, extract the zip file and paste the CoreCraft folder to the minecraft folder. Inside the CoreCraft folder contains the mods, resourcepacks, and config.
Open Minecraft Launcher and make a new installation.
- Set the Game Version to release fabric-loader-0.16.7-1.21.1 or download the latest fabric version here. You may need to install Java to run the fabric installer.
- Browse the Game Directory and set it to the CoreCraft folder itself
- Under "More Options", allocate more RAM using JVM arguments for better performance. Read server requirements to get an idea of RAM allocation. Here is an example of allocating 3GB using JVM arguments. Notice ''-Xmx3G'' where 3G is the RAM allocated.
-Xmx3G -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=32M
- Create the new instance
Updating the modpack involves adding/replacing the old folders (mods, config, and resourcepacks) with the new ones inside your instance.
To all users: Please backup your worlds whenever you do a modpack update!
In-game, we recommend players cap the FPS to their monitor's refresh rate to ease the GPU load. Any HUD elements can be moved in the mod's config in mod menu, but these are configured by default when you install the modpack. (We configured it on our 13-inch MacBook Air screens on full screen, so people with similar setups may experience better results)
Config (servers)
For the config, you can click here and you will be redirected to GitHub where you can download server optimization files, once that's downloaded you will notice a config folder containing the recommended settings. Move the folder to the installation directory.
