What is Vinyl Frontier?
Vinyl Frontier is a mod containing features related to a new ore, Vinyllium. Vinyllium was originally a feature of an old low-quality mod of mine called Choconilla (which I've decided to revisit and redo some of the content from). Vinyllium's main gimmick is as an ingredient for music discs, but it also has other uses.
Music Disc Crafting
Once you mine up enough Vinyllium Shards, you can use them to craft blank music discs. Blank Music discs can then be turned into music discs via the brand-new Disc Burner!
Disc Burner comes packaged with REI support, and support for custom recipes!
Harmonic Spring
The harmonic spring is 2 features in 1, and extension to Noteblock Sounds, and a means of launching oneself into the air. It requires redstone power to function, but once powered it will launch entities vertically into the air (with the launch being determined by the redstone signal). The Launch also plays a sound from the mob based on the block it's on.
Blocks breakable by a pickaxe play the hurt sound,
Blocks breakable by an axe play the ambient sound (unless an entity doesn't have one, of which it will default to the death sound)
Any other block will play the death sound
Music Sheets
Music Sheets are an item that will come in handy to anyone building with noteblocks. Using a music sheet, you can shift right-click on a Note Block or Harmonic Spring in order to store the note from the block. If you put it in your offhand, all note blocks and harmonic springs will automatically be tuned.
Other Features
- Vinyllium blocks for building, offering a black alternative to quartz
- Warp Whistles, a expensive flute item used to teleport to your spawn point
