Knights and Heraldry, a mod that attempts to give players a more authentic feel when it comes to the arms and armour of the late medieval Europe. It builds off the better combat mod to help further overhaul Minecraft's combat system to help bring to life the feel of medieval combat.
With a large arsenal of weapons ranging from your common dagger and spear to the less common arquebus and handgonne and with detailed and customisable armour, your combat experience will feel more immersive than simply just left-clicking.
This mod's combat system involves its own stamina system and more dynamic melee range (positioning now matters) and damage types, while also building off better combat's animations, and it's combat overhaul. Where compatibility is concerned, these additional features do not affect vanilla or modded armour or weapons.
Damage Types:
There are 3 new damage types, which are only really useful for PVP with the use of the mod's armour system. Slashing, Piercing and Bludgeoning. Piercing damage is only effective when it's a critical hit, otherwise it defaults to bludgeoning damage.
Damage Ranges:
Every weapon has a more dynamic weapon range. Positioning now matters in this mod when using our weapons. If someone is too close, you won't be doing that much damage, same as if they're too far away. Each weapon has an effective range and a critical range, and then a range when you're too close to an opponent or too far away.
Armour:
Armour in this mod works a little differently. First, you decide if you're going to be wearing gambeson armour or mail armour as your base set. This is equipped like normal, and each set has a set amount of resistance to a damage type. Gambeson is more effective against bludgeoning attacks, Mail is more effective against slashing. Then you equip any plate or brigandine sets as trinkets. These will add further general protection, essentially just reinforcing the base armour but at the cost of hunger drain.
Stamina:
When you're using a Knights and Heraldry weapon or wearing its armour, you'll be greeted with a stamina bar above your hunger bar. Whenever you sprint, jump, attack or be attacked, in the case of having full plate equipped, as well as other actions, your stamina will drain. Should the stamina reach 0, you're temporarily exhausted and unable to perform any actions aside from moving slowly, so you'll have to think on your feet and pick your fights carefully.
Where to start:
To obtain knights and heraldry equipment, you'll need to have a functioning village. None of the items are crafted and are instead obtained through trading with respective professions. The more you level them up, the more equipment will become available to you up until master, where you'll have access to blackpowder weaponry.
