"Wolves deserve better." This mod reimagines tamed wolves as real canine companions — with personalities, gender and skill variations, and loyalty that lasts a lifetime (or a few).

Cozy’s Improved Wolves is a total AI and behavior overhaul for vanilla wolves. It adds personality, progression, and polish to one of Minecraft’s most loyal mobs, transforming wolves from fragile house decorations into complex, emotionally rich and interactive adventuring allies — while retaining Minecraft’s vanilla spirit.

Each wolf becomes a unique companion with their own stats, class, gender, and emergent behaviors. Whether you're looking for a faithful hunter, a helpful scavenger, or a sentimental partner-- this mod brings your wolves to life. You’ll form bonds, build stories, and even bring them back from death when tragedy strikes.

The Heart of the Mod: Soul-Bound Companionship

If your tamed wolf dies, it leaves behind a Wolf Collar — a soul-bound item that lets you revive them at your side. No more leaving beloved pets at home out of fear. Bring them into danger. They'll return with you ✧

Major Features

🦴 New Items to Obtain

A few new items are now obtainable in game:

• Ancient Bone: Required for taming wolves. Drops from skeletons (~5% chance).
• Ancient Bone Meal: Crafted from Ancient Bones, with the strength of 4 vanilla bone meal.
• Taming Stick: Crafted with 1 Stick and 1 Ancient Bone Meal. Used to check and store the stats of any tamed wolf (shift + right click).
• Wolf Collar: Obtained upon a wolf death. Used to revive a specific wolf using the soul stored within.

🧬 Unique Wolf, Every Time

Each tamed wolf is assigned:

• A Class (Hunter or Gatherer), each with unique stat distributions and a passive ability.
• A Gender (Male or Female), influencing breeding and name color.

📊 Visual Stat Display

Sneak + right-click with a Training Stick to see:

• RPG-style stat bars for all stats
• Your wolf's kill count
• The number of times that wolf has died
• The number of gifts you've received from that wolf

🎁 Gifts & Rerolls

Wolves occasionally assist you by gifting you items they find on your adventures.

• Wander stat = more rerolls = better loot.
• Gift chance stat = higher chance to find a gift = more loot.
• Gatherer Wolves can periodically “dig up” items.
• Hunter Wolves give items they obtain through battle.

• Tempt behavior: Wolves follow you if you’re holding food.

• Only owners can trigger breeding mode.
• Only owners can trigger revival, collars cannot be used by others.

Fabric + Quilt compatible. Requires Fabric API (or compatible Quilt equivalent)

Supports Minecraft versions 1.19.2 → 1.21.5. (Currently only 1.21.5 updated to 1.3.0)

Light on dependencies and does not replace vanilla wolves, only extends them.
